CHASE Supervisor Seminar

CHASE Supervisor Seminar

Tuesday 7 November, 12:30-15:30 | Birkbeck, University of London
Drawing from the findings of One Size Does Not Fit All (2017), a report on the professional development of Arts and Humanities doctoral and early career researchers, this interactive workshop, will explore the relationship between researcher development and supervisory practice.

We are keen to foster discussion and reflection of this report across CHASE and invite all supervisors at CHASE institutions. This will include a networking lunch; a short briefing on CHASE studentship funding; and a discussion session on supervision in the arts and humanities facilitated by the author of the report, Marie-Alix Thouaille (a CHASE-funded doctoral researcher at the University of East Anglia).
The discussion session will consider the following questions:

  • What does doctoral researcher development look like in the Arts and Humanities?
  • What barriers to development do doctoral researchers encounter?
  • What role do supervisors play in doctoral researcher development?
  • What barriers do supervisors encounter in this area?
