CHASE: Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts Southeast England

The Courtauld Institute of Art, Goldsmiths, University of London, the Open University, and the Universities of East Anglia, Essex, Kent and Sussex have formed a consortium to promote excellence in research, postgraduate research training and knowledge exchange in the Arts & Humanities.

The consortium aims to:

  • Support world-class researchers in the understanding of human culture and creativity
  • Engage with employers and develop partnerships to encourage creativity and innovation and to secure funding
  • Raise the national and international profile of the Universities


CHASE Doctoral Training Partnership with Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)

We are delighted to announce that CHASE has received a £17m award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. As one of 11 new Doctoral Training Partnerships in the UK,  CHASE will enrol its first students in October 2014. In addition to the AHRC’s commitment, our partners have committed over £10m in studentship funding: over the 5 years of the award, we will support over 375 PhD students in the arts and humanities across our partner institutions.
