Space & Time in Norwich Cathedral Library - from 3.30pm (FULLY BOOKED)
This event will begin with an introductory talk by Gudrun Warren, Cathedral Librarian and Curator, outlining: how the Cathedral functions now and how it has developed from the pre-Reformation monastic foundation; the collections and what we do to care for them and make them accessible to users. Participants will be able to engage with Histories of the Cathedral looking at the Norwich Domesday, a 15th-century copy of a late 13th- century taxation valuation of the diocese which is the only pre-Reformation manuscript remaining at the Cathedral; the Priory’s seal box with two sections and six keys, and containing seal matrices, one of which has been cancelled. Participants will also be able to explore 16th-century printed material – literary sources and parish books, and 18th- and 19th-century choir part books and music collections given to the Cathedral subsequently by Masters of the Music and the late Professor Peter Aston.http://www.cathedral.org.uk/visit/getting-here
