The Courtauld Institute of Art
Hi, I'm Ruth, a first-year PhD Creative Writing student at the University of Essex. I'm looking forward to meeting many of you at the Encounters Conference in December at Essex. I'm happy to be the new Web Officer for the SAG and you can expect to see me tweeting, and also encouraging you to use the Facebook page.
University of Sussex
I'm a second year student in the Law Department at the University of Sussex and I am chairing the SAG this year. My research is on the role Trade Unions and Students' Unions have played in the marketisation of higher education from 1970 onwards, using a framework that combines critical utopian theory and an analysis of power and oppression. I am keen to hear from all students about their experiences and will be leading on the creation of a working group looking at Diversity, Inclusion and Outreach this year. Please get in touch if you would like to be involved in SAG, or if you have any ideas or concerns you would like us to take forward!
University of Kent
I’m Kate, and I will be the Secretary of the Student Advisory Group from January. I am a first year PhD student at the University of Kent, studying History. My thesis is on female perpetrators of the Holocaust; I am focusing particularly on the female doctors who participated in the human experiments that took place at concentration camps during the Third Reich.
Secretary of SAG (from Jan 2018)
Secretary of the SAG until January 2018, first year History PhD student at the University of Kent studying Holocaust survivor associations using oral history. Interests include copious amounts of reading, writing book reviews for my blog and cooking. Can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org. I'm happy to be contacted by anyone regarding my role, suggestions to put forward, networking opportunities and if any prospective CHASE students want advice.
Secretary of SAG (until Jan 2018)
I am a second-year Music researcher. As part of the SAG, I would like to make sure students’ views and opinions are realised within CHASE and that we all have a unique and valuable experience as a part of this group. Together with other CHASE students from Goldsmiths, I am looking forward to hosting the Encounters conference at our university in June 2018!
I am a full-time CHASE scholarship student at the Open University entering the second half of my PhD thesis. Although formally based within the Classical Studies department, my work is interdisciplinary by nature and explores the contrasting depictions of slavery in two very different ancient world television dramas, HBO’s Rome (2005-7) and Starz’s Spartacus (2010-13).
